In attempt to make good decisions I elected not to drink at dinner last night with some friends, I went to bed early, slept great for like 9 hours.
The “good” decision I made last night allowed me to make a “good” decision today. Which was run 9 miles on a treadmill because it is 26 degrees out and I hate being cold. Even though after running for two miles makes my body temperature hit 1000 degrees Celsius. I didn’t run this long for “fun” but because I decided to do a 1/2 marathon on St. Patrick’s Day. Which is stupid enough as it stands because St. Patrick’s Day + Tom = 1,2,3 Blackout.
Highlights from my good decision making:
1. I’d like to spend the most sincerest of thanks to Bill Simmons and his podcast. It made the entire running way better. And by way better I mean I didn’t want to hang myself as bad.
1b. Sidenote, Netflix needs to update their marketing scheme for their mobile apps. Try running to a comedy special, aside from people looking at you look a weirdo for running and laughing out loud it really makes the run better. And by better I mean I didn’t want to shank someone.
2. Eminem’s “Til I Collapse” is my favorite song to close out a run. The marching cadence in the backgroup, Eminem saying motivation style (prose Tom, prose) and then beginning to yell, and a good hook are really what I need right before I fall down. This made the run better.
I can’t believe I signed up to run a marathon in October. Shoot me in the neck.
